Shyampukur Bati now part of the Ramakrishna Order

The House where Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa stayed for 70 days in 1885 during his illness, 'Shyampukur Bati' was handed over to the Ramakrishna Math and Mission at a ceremony according to the report published in 'The Hindu' dated Friday, November 19, 2010. Shyampukur Bati is also associated with the Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi, Swami Vivekananda and the personal items used by Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa have been displayed at the Museum in the premises. The Handover ceremony took place in the presence of Swami Atmasthanandaji Maharaj, President and Swami Prabhanandaji Maharaj, General Secretary of the Ramakrishna Order. 96 years of The Vedanta Kesari

'The Vedanta Kesari' a cultural and spiritual monthly in English published by Sri Ramakrishna Math, Chennai since 1914 is now available in a DVD and for Digital download from the Ramakrishna Math, Chennai website. The magazine started at the behest of Swami Vivekananda, as the Brahmavadin in September 1895 under Sri Alasinga Perumal and later came to be called The Vedanta Kesari: the Lion of Vedanta since 1914 is an Encyclopedic Treasure House of Vedanta. The DVD contains all the articles published from May 1914 to December 2009 a period of 96 years with 14,300 articles by 2,400 authors in 48,000 pages. The DVD can be searched by Articles, Authors, Year wise or using keywords.

The DVD was released at a function on Saturday, October 9, 2010 in Chennai. The photographs of the release function are available here. The DVD has been beautifully produced by Sri Ramakrishna Math, Chennai with digitization and programming by SriRanga Digital Software Technologies ltd., Srirangapatna, Karnataka.
